10/22/09 Dear Bloomberg,
I believe that the economy is worse now. The prices of many things have been raising and especially the metro cards. It used to be a little cheaper than now, but it also has become a hassle since the prices have risen. There are many people who buy metro cards and take public transportations, so I really believe that metro cards could have just remained the same. Really what difference will it help raising bills or taxes do to help the economy except for becoming into a hassle. Also I the unemployed rate have increased I believed which can also be a problem for the economy. Many people can’t pay for anything or taxes since they don’t have a job. Shouldn’t the government be trying to provide more jobs for the citizens rather than raising prices. If more people have jobs wouldn’t it raise the economy, I might be wrong because I really don’t know about the economy but I really think that it will help out more then making people losing their jobs and raising prices. Generally if the government wants to fix the economy shouldn’t there be more jobs offered to people and everyone can pay their taxes. Even though the prices for many things are increasing, what help will it do if there are people with no jobs. They can’t buy anything if they wanted to since they can’t even make any money to afford it in the first place. Our city is a Capitalist nation, and most of the economy is really based on how much we spend and the taxes we pay. Many prices have been jumping up like crazy and the prices like gas and other things started to change at different rate sometimes it is high and sometimes it is cheap but the price of everything else also haven’t been constant and what help will it do if we can’t pay for it. It is just like how our economy because it is also not constant and most of the times it seems to be getting worse as time past.
