Vote 18

Welcome to the Vote 18 Community. Your Vote = Your Voice in our democracy.

“Bill Thompson is a leading voice in our City's fight to reduce crime and improve public safety.” (www.thompson2009.com). When he is elected mayor of New York City, Bill Thompson plans to strengthen the feeling of security for the citizens. One of the many plans he intends to put forward is to increase the quality of police that we have protecting us. Thompson plans to both increase the pay of all police officers in new york city as well as expand the range at which they are dispersed. Thompson hopes to decrease the amount of crime within the city in general. By doing this he hopes to create a city where people can feel safe walking around alone at night.
Many different sources are endorsing Bill Thompson for mayor of New York City. Many newspapers, news networks, and websites are showing their support for him. Different networks are showing the candidates in different lights. Though as for whether or not it is fair, I can safely say that it isn't. News networks always put a spin of bias on their portrayals of elections. Because different networks have different political views of their own, they would obviously be more supportive of those who share their views.
"Our great city comptroller, our candidate for mayor, my friend Billy Thompson is in the house." (Barack Obama) This is just one of many endorsements that Thompson has received, though it might be one of the most impressive ones. As well as that of the presidents, Thompson has also received endorsements and support from senators, including Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer, as well as congressmen, congresswomen, and governors.
As all candidates running for anything do, both Bloomburg and Thompson have campaigned on T.V. Sadly, the commercials that constantly show on television can become quite nasty, going so far as to slander the opponent. This form or propaganda has sadly become the norm. In order to reach the public's ear, the candidates use these commercials to both put their ideas in the minds of the voters.
All in all, both candidates are working hard to gain the votes and support of the citizens of New York City. They use other people's endorsements, commercials, and even volunteers to help them spread the word of their campaign and gain their votes.
